When Elliot writes about his experience with the Jock Rots and sends it out over the KidNet, he includes the following quote in his letter.
"I think people ought to realize that stuff like this goes on every day…The rest of you are all part of it-because you let it go on and maybe you think it's funny, or you think it only happens to geeky outsiders and kids who are smaller or fatter or skinnier or don't have so many friends or so much money as you. So tell me-what happens when you don't have so many friends one day, or you don't have so much money, or something bad happens to you?" (91-92)
Blog Question:
What is the message is he trying to get across to his classmates? (6pts)
I think the message Elliot is trying to get across is that kids shouldn't be bullied by their fellow peers just because they look, talk, or act a certain way. If you have to look, talk, or act in a specific way, then you're not being YOU. I think he's also trying to say that his classmates are too afraid to be themselves because the students are worried they will be picked on if he or she does things their own way. And people support the bullies because they want to be on the bullie's good side. Or maybe, the by-standers stat away from it because they don't want to get involved in the bullying. I personally believe, the by-standers and bullies are more insecure than the victims because these people are too scared to be themselves. On the other hand, the victims are facing these bullies everyday and getting picked on, but they still don't change their personality and they aren't hiding who they really are. In this way, I think the by-standers and bullies are more insecure than the victims. Everyone is different in their own way and that's what makes everyone special.

Blog Question: After the Bully Lab was renamed, the Revealers, and the stories of the three Darkland students were released and well received by the student body, Elliot wanted to publish Russell’s narrative about Richie punching Russell in the face.
1) Why was Russell so opposed to the idea (pg. 110)? Explain. (4 pts)
Russell was opposed to the idea because he thought Richie changed a little and that Richie wasn't going to bully him anymore. Russell didn't want Richie to be mad at him because he didn't want to get punched by him again. Russell didn't want to be Richie's target. He just walked out of the spotlight. Russell didn't want to go back in again. In the story, Richie said that it was okay if Russell asked him questions. It just had to be the right questions. My opinion is that Russell thinks he gained some respect from Richie because of the whole incident with the Jock Rots when Richie protected him. This is shown on p. 97 - p. 99.
2) What is happening to the relationship between Russell and Richie. (3 pts)
I think the relationship between Russell and Richie is improving because Richie was kind of impressed that Russell stood up for himself and also because Richie doesn't bully Russell as much as he used to. In fact, Richie doesn't bully Russell at all nowadays. After the incident with the Jock Rots, Richie hasn't been mentioned in the story that much. Russell likes it that way and he doesn't want to go back to Square 1 with Richie.
